MaddAddam Trilogy, Cover Design

Role: Graphic Design
Location: New York, NY (Parsons)

Maddaddam is a dense, post-apocalyptic trilogy that explores ethics; biological warfare; bioengineering; art and religion as instinct; and the damage technology can inflict on humanity. Juxtaposing masterpieces from the Italian Renaissance with the destructive quality of glitch art, I aimed to imply the depth of the series while referencing several of these overarching themes.

A Separation, Cover Design

Role: Graphic Design
Location: New York, NY (Parsons)

A Separation is a somber story about the end of a relationship that takes a surprisingly dark turn. The idyllic setting in Greece establishes a sense of romance but it is tainted with menace from nearby forest fires, the mystery of the protagonist’s estranged husband’s whereabouts, and the weight she bears in attempting to disentangle their lives for good. To portray this contradiction I experimented with burning photographs of couples creating a sense of mystery, nostalgia, and melancholy.

The Catcher in the Rye, Cover Design

Role: Graphic Design
Location: New York, NY (Parsons)

JD Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye is my favorite book for both sentimental and literary reasons. This personal take on the cover design was inspired by my evolving relationship with the characters spanning over twenty years of rereads. I was inspired by the idea that a reader's circumstances reflect on the interpretation of the story, mixing the roles of the writer and audience.

A Farewell to Sense and Sensibility, Cover Design

Role: Graphic Design
Location: New York, NY (Parsons)

A Farewell to Sense and Sensibility is a mashup between two classics, Hemingway’s A Farewell to Arms and Austen’s Sense and Sensibility. The element of rain is a reoccurring literary symbol that foreshadows events in A Farewell to Arms, as well acts as a catalyst for the plot in Sense and Sensibility. I used embroidery as an abstract representation of falling rain while simultaneously referencing “women's work” in 19th century.
